Assistant Youth Instructor Arama is one of Global Jiu Jitsu Academy’s dedicated assistant youth instructors, and a standout example of the positive impact Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can have on young people. Having started his journey at just four years old, Arama has grown up on the mats, developing not only technical skill but also the discipline, confidence, and leadership that Jiu-Jitsu uniquely fosters in teens.
Now a seasoned competitor, Arama holds multiple regional, national, and Māori national titles. In 2024, he proudly represented the academy on the world stage at the SJJIF World Championships in Nagoya, Japan—an achievement that reflects his years of hard work and commitment.
In his role as an assistant instructor, Arama brings patience, encouragement, and a positive energy that resonates with the younger members of the academy. He is passionate about helping other teens grow in both skill and self-belief, and he continues to develop his own teaching and mentoring abilities.
Arama is a strong role model for youth, showing that Jiu-Jitsu offers far more than physical training—it builds focus, resilience, teamwork, and a strong sense of belonging. Whether it’s gaining confidence to speak up, learning how to handle pressure, or simply becoming more active, Jiu-Jitsu provides lifelong benefits for teenagers navigating their formative years.
When he's not on the mats, Arama enjoys rugby, basketball, fishing, gaming, and spending time with his mates.
